How and why God responded to Hannah’s demand? How was God with Samuel since, he was just a boy? what distinguishes him? what are his attractive attributes? how he followed God to be blamed for nothing? what should we benefit?

He is Born & Dedicated

(So, Hannah prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your maidservant and remember me, and not forget your maidservant, but will give your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.) (1SAMUEL 1;9,10-11)

(So, it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son and called his name Samuel. Saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.) (1SAMUEL 1:20)

(Thus Hannah, mentioned in Samuel 1, was a symbol of the church, clung to her prayer not in a loud demand but in silence and in meekness, she did not speak with her voice but by her heart secretly and in strong faith since she knew that God is listening carefully in such manner.) (Saint Cyprianus)

(Her weeping proceeded her mouth, and she thought that in this way God will respond to her demand.) (Saint John Chrysostom)

(Her tears were crying more clearly than any trumpet so that God opened her womb and made a silent rock a fruitful field.) (Saint John Chrysostom)

This shows us dear reader the influence of the honest and true prayer that can reach directly to the heavens and is already responded by God.

His Invitation

(But Samuel ministered before the Lord, even as a child, wearing a linen ephod. Meanwhile the child Samuel grew, before the Lord.) (1SAMUEL 2:18,21)

Hence, he began his service while he was a child to be used by God who can save by few as by many to maintain the bad surrounding of, Eli the priest and his two sons.

(Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days, there was no widespread revelation.) (1 SAMUEL 3:1)

Thus, inside this great darkness and the spiritual famine God was preparing a small boy to serve in the tabernacle in honesty, through whom God shines in the middle of His people. And so, on all the generations, God establish a righteous rest witnessing for Him and serving Him with the Spirit and the Righteousness.

(And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. So, he arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you did call me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord called the boy. Therefore, Eli said to Samuel, “Go lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say ‘Speak; Lord for, your servant hears.) (1SAMUEL 3:8-9)

No doubt that he was seeing the errors of Eli’s two sons, but he ran fast in his loving and humble spirit thinking that Eli needs his help or his service. He realized that the obedience is the shortest way although it may be the hardest one.

The Lord called him personally by his name, but it was not possible to recognize Him and meet Him without guidance from Eli, the Priest. So that, we all should not underestimate the Priest as, a father and a guide, to lead us to the personal meeting, with the Lord, our father.

(Without counsel, plans go awry, but in the multitude of counselors they are established.) (PROVERBS 15:22)

(Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, And Samuel answered “Speak, Lord for your servant hears.”) (1SAMUEL 3:10)

Thus, how it was the meeting with God projected as if, God left His throne and took away the veil to stand in the holy dwelling inviting a boy. What a wonderful Godly divine abdication, and a super love to the man! God stands to invite a boy to, a super work!

“Your servant hears.” announces that the essence of the prophecy is listening and obeying the Godly divine’s voice.

(Then the Lord said to Samuel: “Behold I will do something in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle. In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. For that I have told him that I will judge his house forever. And therefore, Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice.”) (1SAMUEL 3:11,12,13)

(Then Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel my son!” he answered, “Here I am.” And he said, “What’s the word that the Lord spoke to you? Then Sanuel told him everything. And he said, “It is the Lord. Let Him do what seems good to Him.”) (1SAMUEL 3:16,17,18)

Thus, he feared to tell Eli about the revelation not fearing his anger but fearing from wounding him since he is a beloved and a respected father to him. And Eli’s answer uncovered his righteousness despite his weak personality before his two sons.

(So, Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him.) (SAMUEL 3:19)

This clarifies so much the togetherness with God, since He is the secret of the power of his sons, He accompanies them giving Himself to them, presenting, all His Godly divine possibilities so that, they do need nothing.

Israel Demands a King

(Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. So, Samuel prayed to the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me.) (1SAMUEL 8:5,6,7)

Thus, he did not get angry with them, but as a wise man prayed firstly, asking for God’s guidance and God rested him telling him that the people rejected Him not he. And the wonder that God responded to their demand sanctifying, the humane freedom.

His Address

(Here I am. witness against me before the Lord and before His anointed: Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I received any bribe? And they said, “You have not cheated us or oppressed us, nor have you taken anything from any man’s hand.) (1SAMUEL 12:3,4)

He witnesses the Lord who examines the hearts and do know the hidden thoughts that all that he has done was sourcing from, the depths of his love and internal honesty. All the presences witnessed for him how he behaved in no blame at all. Thus, how the spiritual leader should be, with no blame!
